Course Overview
Being over 100 years old the course benefits from having a large number of mature trees which frame the majority of the holes. The undulating layout based on gravel, drains particularly well, and the full greens, tees and fairway irrigation ensures good summer playing conditions.
The club has hosted professional, national and county golfing events as well as receiving awards for the quality of the course.

LOCAL RULES 2019
1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
a) Beyond any of the course boundary hedges and fences.
b) The clubhouse and adjacent paved path between the Professional’s shop and the clubhouse, the practice putting green and surrounding flower beds and all car parks.
c) The cottage and gardens between the 5th and the 12th green.
2. Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions) Shelters, Machinery, Roads, Tracks.
All shelters, machinery used for maintenance of the course, artificially surfaced roads and paths on the course are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. All other paths are deemed to be integral parts of the course.
All wooden sleepers, water taps and manhole covers are deemed to be immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.
Fixed Sprinkler Heads and irrigation boxes.
Relief from sprinkler heads may be taken under Rule 16.1. The player may also take relief under Rule 16.1b if a sprinkler head is on the line of play and is - within two club-lengths of the putting green, and -within two club-lengths of the ball.
Exception – There is no relief if a player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

Staked Trees including No Play Zones (Rule 16)
a) Young trees identified by white lines, or protective plastic sheaths, or stakes are no play zones;
If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such tree interferes with a player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.
b) Ground Under Repair is identified by white lines and relief is available under Rule 16.1a&b. If the area is marked as a No Play Zone relief must be taken under Rule 16.1f.
c) Temporary greens are deemed to be a wrong green even when not in use and relief must be taken under Rule 13.1f.
